Nutrition
Sadie’s Place NY complies with guidelines of New York State Office of the Aging (NYSOFA) by providing nutritious meals and snacks to our clients at affordable prices. We will do our best to meet the needs of unique diets, however we cannot guarantee all requests will be possible. Comprehensive nutrition assessment is part of our initial interview process.
We strive to bring variety to our clients and will make our menu available one week in advance.
In-Home Companion Care
The goal of Sadie's Place NY is to bring seniors together for socialization in a group environment to allow them to meet others and make new friendships. However, the need for in-home companion care may come up from time to time. Sadie's Place NY offers in-home companion care exclusively to clients that participate in our group model. This service brings caregivers the additional security that their loved ones are not alone for extended periods of time. These services are optional and not included in the basic service rate. Feel free to ask questions about this service during your initial consultation.
Transportation
Transportation is available to and from Sadie’s Place on a limited basis and within a proximity to our location. This service is optional and not included in the basic service rate. Early registration is recommended and same day cancellation is non-refundable.
We reserve the right to cancel transportation in the event of early closure due to emergency or inclement weather. Therefore, each client must have an alternative mode of transportation and a current contact number.
Basic transportation guidelines such as wearing a seatbelt must be adhered to as a participant in this service.
Care Management
Sadie's Place NY recognizes that one of the biggest challenges for today's caregiver is being available to bring a loved one to medical and personal appointments. Time off from work and juggling other family responsibilities can become overwhelming.
We offer assistance with scheduling and transporting our clients to personal appointments within proximity of our location. This service is on a limited basis, is optional and not included in the basic service rate. All company transportation rules apply (see Transportation, above). Please ask about this important option when we meet.
Medical Care & Illness
Sadie’s Place NY is social model adult day service program which does not provide direct medical care. Personal assistance with activities of daily living and grooming with clients is based on individual needs and is determined at the initial consultation with the client and caregivers.
In the event of a medical emergency, we will dial 911 to alert local emergency responders and notify the caregivers. We will share any relevant information during the event to the responders and strongly recommend that caregivers assure all documentation is current to the client’s needs. This would include any community DNR order or Advanced Directive.
We respectfully maintain the right to prevent attendance in our programs if the client has been ill for any reason and will require a provider’s note stating they are medically cleared to return to our social program. We expect compliance from caregivers with this important rule to prevent any unnecessary and irresponsible risk to our clients and staff.
